A society dedicated to providing opportunities in biotechnology and synthetic biology to undergraduate students
Our primary goal is to make the fields of Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology as accessible as possible to as many disciplines as possible within our institution, expanding our reach beyond simply just the life sciences. We also aim to deliver knowledge in a clear and simple way that is easy to understand by all those interested in the society’s endeavours.
Our society aims to offer the same amount of knowledge and resources to all our members regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender, ability and knowledge within the field. We stand for building up our community together and exploring these interesting fields in unison.
We want to ensure that everyone within our committee that will be present at our events throughout the year, will be as approachable as possible. You are more than welcome to ask us any questions academia-related or not. We are a friendly bunch and do not want you to feel intimidated in any way. We want to emphasise that your well-being is important to us and want to create a safe space for our members.
Our society's ethos revolves around our members, their requirements and needs in what they wish to see from the society itself. We tailor our events according to your needs and you will get plenty of opportunities to interact with our events and offer feedback in order to keep providing you with aspects you truly care about.
We were joined by Dr. Jonathan Kwok and his team to gain an insight into Infinitope's journey in revolutionising oncology through Infinitopes Precision Immunomics.
Our first flagship event of the year was held in the Science Gallery. We had the opportunity to hear from our keynote speaker Professor Darren Nesbeth and had a panel discussion from Marc Davies, Sara Holland, Hugo Villanueva and Meonard Wossnig.
Communication matters a lot to us; whether that is through our social media platforms such as Instagram and Linkedin, or whether that involves a more personalised means of communication such as our society WhatsApp Group.
All relevant information on Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology will be found on these platforms as well as all details relevant to our society’s events throughout the year and feedback from our audience will be gathered as well. Our weekly mailing list will be sent to our members through our subscription platform, to ensure everyone is kept up to date with our society’s endeavours.
